This is one of a new series of loose, Expressionistic representations of animals. I call them Cast Wax Sketches, because they started out as a group of quick studies for a prospective commission patron who wanted a sculpture of her dog, The commission ran away and joined the circus but I continued to enjoy this light-hearted, playful way of capturing the essence of dog. This isn’t a Westy or a Yorkie or a Midwesty––it’s a dog. It’s just a dog. But it’s a wonderfully happy dog who just caught the Frisbee©®* that you tossed.

Woo hoo!!!!!!!!

Who feels better about that, you or your dog?

Don’t lie. There will be a test.

This is hand cast in bronze in an open edition, pocket sized (the marble base is just 6″ x 4″).

* Frisbee is a registered trademark of somebody somewhere, and it is really great that it is and that they have it and that they share it with the world. Hurray! But I would hate it if they sent their lawyer, Robert, after me, to make me change the name of this little sculpture. I mean, come on. Who wants a sculpture called “Tossable Flying Disc Dog?”
