										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The original was built from layers of hand-poured wax sheets, melted together, then cut, formed and joined. Once the body was complete, I cut the stripes out of the wax, intending them to be dark negative spaces to contrast with the ultimately mottled white patina.</p>
<p>So that&#8217;s what I did. Cut, cut, cut.</p>
<p>It was hand-cast in bronze, polished and patinaed with layers of brush-splotched white patina over a mottled dark patina base.  It stands astride a half-sphere of white onyx atop a black marble cylinder.</p>
<p>Just as was my Equine Waltz sculpture, this was inspired by the Chinese Gansu Horse, a reproduction of which I have treasured for over 30 years.</p>
